CATEGORIES

This is a men's and women's eights only event for the following categories:
  • Elite
  • Championship
  • Intermediate
  • Beginner
  • Masters (winner decided by handicap). Mixed and composite crew entries welcome. 
  • Junior crews are encouraged to enter their boats in the intermediate category. 
The Remenham Club does not apply the BROE2 system to this race.  

The following Remenham Challenge specific qualifying criteria has been agreed by the Remenham Committee and will be applied at this season's race:

MEN'S
  • First boat enters elite* if a club had eight athletes qualify to row at HRR 2019.
  • Second boat enters elite if the club had 16 or more athletes qualify to row at HRR 2019.
  • Second boat enters championship if a club had fewer than 16 athletes qualify to row at HRR 2019.
  • Third boat enters championship.
  • Second and third boats with five or more athletes who qualified for HRR 2019 enter championship.
  • Crews with up to four athletes who qualified to row at HRR 2019 (excluding first boats) may enters intermediate. 
  • All fourth boats and below enter intermediate**.
  • Beginner category restricted to rowers who started rowing September 2018 onwards and have never qualified to row at HRR.
WOMEN'S
  • First boat enters elite* if a club had more than two athletes compete at championship level at HWR 2019 or qualified to row at HRR 2019.
  • Second boat has to enter elite if a club had 24 or more athletes qualify to row at aspirational or championship levels at HWR 2019.
  • Second boats with five plus athletes who qualified for aspirational or championship level at HWR must row championship.
  • Third boat must enter championship if a club had 24 or more athletes who qualified for aspirational or championship level at HWR 2019.
  • All other crews can enter intermediate**.
  • Beginner category restricted to rowers who started rowing from September 2018 onwards and have never qualified for aspirational or championship at HWR.
MASTERS
  • Winners decided on handicap
  • Mixed sex and composite crews are welcome to enter at masters level***. 

* This Remenham Challenge specific criteria will be reviewed following next year’s HWR/HRR and subsequently on an ongoing basis.
** Junior crews, crews from Wadham College and crews from Clubs that qualified fewer than eight athletes for HRR/HWR 2019 enter intermediate.
*** Shouldn't have to spell this out but... a mixed sex crew cannot compete for women’s masters category win.
