Remenham Challenge 2010

6 January, 2010 (21:03) | news

As you will already know, the Remenham Club has decided to reinstate the Remenham Challenge as a separate winter head race between the Founding Clubs. This will be held on the Tideway on Sunday 24 January 2010 at 11:30, over a downriver course from Chiswick to Hammersmith.

Entries

We’re offering mens and womens Eights in the following categories: Elite; Intermediate (less than 32 points); Novice; Junior; and Veteran (winner decided on handicap). The customary presentation blades will be awarded to the fastest overall mens and womens crews, with other trophies also being presented.

Entries close on 14 January 2010. Those club officials entering crews will need to attest to the fact that all those in the crews are members of British Rowing (and the crew should have their British Rowing membership cards with them for the race).

I know you may already have been contacted regarding entries, and have nominated someone to co-ordinate your club’s crews, but as a reminder, please let Iain Cowell (i.cowell@hermes.co.uk) have details of your entries as soon as possible.

Facilities on Race Day

For the non-Tideway clubs, we have arranged changing facilities as follows:

  • Kingston RC – at Thames RC
  • Molesey BC – at London RC
  • Staines BC – at Vesta RC
  • Twickenham – at Vesta RC

We should be grateful if you would please contact your host club nearer to the race to confirm arrival time etc.

Crew and supporters’ refreshments will be available at Vesta RC throughout the event and the prize giving will also be at Vesta, immediately after racing.

There will be a cox’s briefing at Thames RC at 10:00.

Volunteers

We would like each founding club to provide at least one volunteer per crew entered (be that launch driver, umpire or land based support marshals). A separate invitation has been sent to your club’s registered umpires but please provide Paul Baldwin (paulb@vrc.org.uk) with names and contact details for any other volunteers, together with details of ability for roles (e.g. experienced launch driver) ASAP

We look forward to seeing you on the Tideway in a few weeks. Don’t forget to get your entries in and also offer your help with the event!
